Community Connection

Our opportunities to connect with our community are flourishing! From packed events, to sprouting ag education and an engaged volunteer base, we are deeply grateful for everyone who has shown up for Lancaster County’s farms and farmers. In 2025, LFT participated in more than 22 LFT-led and partner events – bringing together new and longtime supporters to celebrate and protect our farmland. Every connection reminds us how powerful this community is. We can’t wait to see where we’ll connect with farmland enthusiasts like you next!

Saturday Seedlings

Saturday Seedlings is in full swing! Thanks to our friends at The Wittel Farm and our sponsors at the American Dairy Association North East, we’ve had a summer full of fun and education with multiple Saturday Seedlings experiences. Through engaging, hands-on activities, kids and their grown-ups explored soil quality, learned how farmers gather the food we eat, and met farm animal friends. Together, we explored multiple facets of agriculture and celebrated the important role local farmland plays in our community!

Volunteer Workshops

Investing in our volunteers is essential to helping them feel empowered in their work! That’s why we started providing quarterly virtual workshops to take the time to dive into different topics and support our volunteers’ engagement. From advocacy training and learning more about a typical tabling experience to all things land preservation, we have loved connecting with our community.

Farm-to-Pantry Project

Thanks to our generous sponsors at Corteva Agriscience, Lancaster Farmland Trust has organized a partnership with local farmers and hunger relief agencies to implement a transformative second-harvest program in Lancaster County. The Farm to Pantry Project aims to provide fresh, locally grown produce to families in need. Local volunteers come out and help harvest produce that would otherwise be lost. In 2025 our volunteers harvested 7,800 pounds of produce. Thank you to Corteva and our diligent volunteers for making this work possible!

Together, for the Land

Thanks to the support of our generous attendees at our Together for the Land Annual Dinner, we raised more than $227,000 to protect the 97-acre Conley Farm in one night! It was a beautiful fall evening, celebrating the past, present, and future of Lancaster County and ensuring the protection of farmland for future generations.

This farm home to three generations of the Conley family, is located in West Hempfield Township. The family’s ancestors bought the farm in 1783, and the current farmhouse on the property dates to 1808. Today, Mr. Conley works on the farm with his son, grandson, and nephew. Together, the family grows and sells produce, wheat, and cash crops through their on-site farm stand and other County auctions. The farm is also home to the operation’s beef cattle, as well as 12 pigs raised by Mr. Conley’s grandson. Passionate about conservation and stewardship, the Conley family has been implementing numerous conservation practices for decades. Some of these practices include no-till farming, pasture fencing, crop rotation, and more! When we save farmland, we save Lancaster County’s past, present, and future.
