“Our farmland in Lancaster County is precious – we can’t get it back once it is gone. The best time to act is now.” -Jeff Swinehart, President & CEO
The Fisher Farm
The Fisher Farm is a 66-acre dairy operation located in Drumore Township, currently home to the family’s 50 dairy cows. After finalizing their plans to move, the Fishers decided to preserve their farm to keep it available to the next generation of farmers.
Farmland is particularly vulnerable to development during these kinds of transition periods, as there is uncertainty about who will own it next. However, the Fishers’ decision to preserve it safeguards the land from potential development, making sales more accessible to other farmers hoping to get started in agriculture. With over 1,000 feet of stream frontage on the property, protecting this farm and its implemented BMPs will protect water, habitats, and ecosystems for generations to come.
Congratulations to the Fisher family, your farm is protected forever!

The Chubb Farm
Located in Conoy Township, the Chubb farm has been in the family since 1965. Similar to the Fisher family, the Chubbs decided to protect their farm before finalizing their move, keeping the land in farming for the next generation of agriculturalists. Mrs. Chubb kindly donated the property’s easement, noting her wish to preserve the land and memories her family has made there!
With its close proximity to Three Mile Island, preserving this farm protects the land and its rich soil from potential associated development projects. Additionally, with 580 feet of stream frontage, a strong buffer planted by the Lancaster County Conservation District, and adjacent to the Susquehanna River, preserving this property helps protect clean water and important ecosystems.
Congratulations to the Chubb family!
The Ryan Farm
The Ryan Farm is a 10-acre property located in Colerain Township, home to the family’s generational nursery. Passionate about preservation, the Ryan family fully donated their easement, noting their wish to keep the farm available for the next generation of agriculturalists!
Located in the Octoraro Creek Watershed, the preservation of this farm protects soil and other natural resources, benefiting Lancaster County and the Chesapeake Bay. And with 1,630 feet of road frontage, the protection of this farm ensures fellow Lancastrians the beautiful farm views we all know and love. Congratulations to the Ryan family, your farm is protected forever!
