May 29, 2024

It’s officially strawberry season, and we can’t wait to hit the markets! Fresh, red strawberries are a staple of summers in Lancaster County, and stopping by a local stand or market guarantees the freshest batch and supports our farmers! If you’re new to the county or are looking for new markets to try this summer, we’ve checked in with staff to gather their favorite spots for the season’s best berries!

Kreider’s Strawberries | Mikaela’s Top Pick

Kreider’s Strawberries is located at 170 Buch Avenue in Lancaster. This market offers fresh-picked strawberries and pick-your-own for a morning of fun on the farm! Strawberries are picked each morning before they’re sold, guaranteeing the freshest quality. Kreider’s is open Monday through Friday from 8 am until berries sell out.

Glen Run Valley View Farm | Jonathan’s Top Pick

You can find this local farm market at 280 Lenover Road in Atglen. Glen Run also offers pre-picked and pick-your-own strawberries and stays open Monday through Friday from 9 am until berries sell out. If you plan to travel to Glen Run for your berries, we recommend calling the farm at  610-593-5656  to check availability beforehand.

Kissel Hill Fruit Farm | Kristin’s Top Pick

Kissel Hill offers fresh strawberries, baked goods, and other products! You can visit Kissel Hill Fruit Farm at 2101 Kissel Hill Rd, Lititz, PA. This market is open Monday through Friday from 9 am to 6 pm and Saturday from 9 am to 4 pm. As always, the earlier you can make your visit, the better! Much like the others, this market sells out fast during strawberry season.

Lapp’s Farm Market | Chandra’s Top Pick

Like Kissel Hill, Lapp’s Farm Market offers fresh strawberries, veggies, and baked goods. They also offer flowers, herbs, and succulents from their greenhouse. Visit Lapp’s at 1406 Lampeter Rd, Lancaster, PA, to grab all your summer must-haves. They’re open Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5:30 pm, and Saturday, 8 am to 5 pm. This market accepts both cash and card.

Smucker’s Farm Market | A Preserved Pick!

Support a preserved farm and grab fresh strawberries at Smucker’s Farm Market! Smucker’s is located at 2110 Rockvale Road in Lancaster and offers an assortment of produce and flowers. This stand is open Monday through Saturday from 8 am to 6 pm. Grab your strawberries at Smucker’s to support farmland that will remain farmland forever!

Keep in mind that many local stands are cash or check only, so stop by an ATM before visiting! As always, never take photos of our Amish or Plain-Sect community members. However, visitors are often welcome to take pictures of the produce or farm property as long as their faces are not recognizable.

Buying our produce from local farm stands and markets is one of the best ways to support our farmers and benefit our community. It’s also the best way to ensure you’re eating the freshest, most nutritious food! When we preserve farmland, we preserve fresh food and healthy communities.
